Editor note: Paul contacted the new Twister Special website on May 23, 2016 to inform us of his Twister clone. I'm fully aware that this is a tribute car, but being the judge and jury of the site I feel that it should be allowed as it qualifies as a piece of history from BEFORE the 2008 Twister Specials were planned and built.
From Paul Oczytko:
2007 Mustang GT customized by FANG Performance, They have since gone out of business. This is their tribute to the Twister Specials built in 1970. Features include Widow peaked fiberglass hood with functional shaker scoop, 95mm C&L CAI, Predator custom tune, Borla X-pipe and cat-back exhaust. Hurst Comp Plus short throw shifter, "Stop the Hop" suspension package, Koni Struts and shocks, SR lowering springs, SR double adjustable panhard bar, SR rear shock tower brace, CDC Classic front spoiler, Sequential tails, and Honeycomb Panel. The car has 28200 miles on it.
We both know that my Twister has no means for identification by Ford, or anyone else, as a "real" Twister. This package was offered by the owners of Fang Performance when the Grabber Orange color was offered in 2007. The original owner of the vehicle was able to choose from a list of options to add the cosmetic modifications he desired.
I believe, in my opinion, that unless another category was created for "professionally" created tribute cars, (produced by aftermarket customizing companies, such as FANG, Foose, or West Coast Customs), a lot of the owners of the "real" Twisters would be justifiably upset by listing a car that is not a true Twister Special. I guess my car, while I call a "tribute car", is really an illegitimate brother to the true TS. Others have called my car a clone, copy, mis-badged, and a "bastardized version". I like it because I could never afford a real TS.
I'll let you decide what to do about the registration form I'll send in about my FANG TS... I just don't want to be ridiculed for "pretending" to own an original TS, or be accused of trying to pawn it off as a true TS. It is what it is... Late model homage to a true muscle car.
Best Wishes for your success in your project,
Paul Oczytko
Thanks Paul, its going up anyway. Nice car it seems like someone put a lot of thought into it!
